McKinley Chapter No. 19 is part of the Order of the Eastern Star, a distinguished fraternal organization that welcomes both men and women. Membership is open to Master Masons, members of the International Order of Job’s Daughters or the Rainbow for Girls, and women related to Masons by birth, marriage, or adoption. The Eastern Star values deep spiritual principles and fosters strong bonds among its members, who refer to each other as Sisters and Brothers.
The organization emphasizes character-building lessons based on inspiring Biblical examples, highlighting values such as charity, truth, and loving kindness. In Virginia, the Eastern Star has over 70 chapters and approximately 4,900 members, engaging in various charitable efforts that raise millions to support causes like cancer research, diabetes awareness, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The Grand Chapter of Virginia has adopted Service Dogs as its signature charity.
Locally, McKinley Chapter No. 19 actively supports the community by donating food to local food banks, assisting shelters for abused women, and providing scholarships to chapter members and local students. The chapter meets monthly on the second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Winchester Hiram Masonic Lodge, where members connect and organize charitable activities.
