The Order of the Eastern Star McKinley Chapter 19 Winchester is named in honor of William McKinley, a great leader and the 25th President of the United States. President McKinley was a proud and dedicated Freemason, a fraternal organization known for its commitment to community service and high moral standards. As the Order of the Eastern Star shares these values and is closely linked with Freemasonry, his legacy of integrity and kindness serves as a perfect inspiration for the chapter. His name reminds members to always lead with a spirit of fellowship and to work together to build a stronger, more caring community<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The McKinley Chapter No. 19 of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) in Winchester, Virginia, was established in 1929. Before this, local members had to join the Order in Berryville, Virginia. In early 1929, 17 Berryville members began planning with 18 local men and women from Winchester. They aimed to form their own chapter. They met to discuss the requirements, including finances, a meeting place, and selecting a name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group applied to the Grand Chapter of Virginia for a dispensation to form a chapter, which was approved. The organizational meeting was on April 6, 1929. It was held in a room on the third floor of the Farmers & Merchants National Bank building. The chapter faced financial struggles. They also lacked a permanent meeting place. However, the members’ dedication and spirit saw them through the Great Depression and beyond. The chapter continued to grow and thrive, thanks to the hard work and commitment of its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, the McKinley Chapter No. 19 has been involved in various community activities and charitable endeavors. They have supported local schools, hospitals, and other organizations through fundraising events and volunteer work. The chapter has also been a place for members to form lifelong friendships. Members support each other in times of need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chapter’s history is marked by resilience and a strong sense of community. From its humble beginnings in a bank building to becoming a well-established organization in Winchester, the McKinley Chapter No. 19 has remained committed to the principles of the Order of the Eastern Star.
